Are you an Electrical Engineer with experience designing utility substations? We're seeking a Substation Engineer to support the design and delivery of transmission and distribution (T&D) infrastructure projects. In this role, you'll contribute to the physical and protection & control design of electrical substations while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on projects that strengthen the nation's power grid.

What You'll Do

• Design and engineer utility substation projects from concept through construction.
• Develop and review engineering deliverables including:

- General Arrangements (GA)
- Elevations
- Cable & Conduit Plans
- Grounding Plans
- Physical Connection Details
- AC/DC Schematics
- Wiring Diagrams

• Perform engineering calculations, AC/DC substation studies, and design analyses.
• Produce high-quality design packages while ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, and clients throughout project execution.
• Conduct field investigations and provide engineering support during construction when needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across project teams.
• Identify design improvements and leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve engineering workflows.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited or equivalent)
• 4+ years of electrical engineering experience
• Experience with physical substation design and/or protection & control (P&C) design
• Ability to prepare and review substation design drawings and engineering documentation
• Experience performing engineering calculations and substation studies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year

Experience with:

• Ground grid modeling software
• Substation protection and control schemes
• Relay settings
• NEC, NESC, and RUS design standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Valid driver's license
