In this position you will be responsible for managing and shaping the technical direction of an existing DevOps engineering team. This role includes oversight of our mobile CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, system reliability, deployment processes, as well as onboarding 3rd party tools. You will also align with leaders across UK and Australia on shared mobile infrastructure strategy and buildout.
What You'll Do:
Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew. Provide guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
Use Agile methodologies to deliver solutions with a high level of quality, flexibility, and adaptability. Collaborate with internal and external IT teams to resolve/improve IT processes and procedures and make recommendations.
Manage vendor relationship as well as contract negotiations and renewals in the DevOps space as appropriate.
Work closely with management to develop and implement staffing and operational plans. Participate in the development of short and long term department goals. Monitor and report on service delivery metrics and overall performance.
Develop and implement changes to department policies and procedures to meet changing business needs and to achieve department objectives. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Lead quality initiatives to improve the delivery of service levels. Work with senior management in the planning, development, and execution of short and long range goals.
Present status, metrics, and department initiatives at meetings with management and project peers. Maintain relationships with technical teams, IT, and business partners.
Participate in the development of the department budget. Review expenses and ensure department operates within budgetary guidelines.
Ensure staff comply with information technology and information security policies and procedures and verify that deliverables meet requirements.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least five years of software project management experience.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Experience supporting large-scale mobile engineering organization with teams across iOS, Android, React Native, and Node.
Strong technical background and hands-on experience with modern DevOps practices like CI/CD, monitoring, automation, etc.
Understanding of mobile platforms differences, advantages and platform-specific hardware and software limitations of mobile ecosystem.
Understanding of mobile applications development and release cycles.
Familiarity with app store submission processes, guidelines, and review criteria for both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Strong understanding of mobile coding signing, certificate management, provisioning profiles, and secure code release process.
Knowledge of Github, Github Actions, Fastlane, Gradle, Firebase, Splunk, AWS infrastructure tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
