Full job description
Tenet Healthcare, along with Detroit Medical Center, is actively seeking a board-certified Family Medicine Physician interested in providing resident education for our program in Detroit, MI.
The Detroit Medical Center Sinai-Grace Hospital/MSU-COM Family Medicine Residency Program is based in northwest Detroit, Michigan, and proudly serves one of the city's most vulnerable populations. The program successfully integrates strong, university-driven academic standards with exposure to a broad spectrum of pathologies. Our exceptional training includes clinical experience at Grand River Health Center, a family practice that has served the Detroit community for nearly 30 years. All rotations take place within the DMC system, a nationally recognized health care system that serves patients and families throughout Michigan and beyond.
This is a full-time Core Faculty position.
Job Responsibilities:
- M-F Schedule 8AM to 5PM, no weekend requirements; Practice Call is shared
- 1 Day per week for resident precepting, clinical supervision
- 1 Day per week maintaining personal clinical practice/patient panel
- .5 Day per week for didactics, lectures, curriculum development
- 2.5 Days per week admin responsibilities
- Participate in supervisory and teaching responsibilities for residents in an outpatient setting
- Serve as an advisor and role model for Family Medicine residents
- Participate in recruiting new residents into the program
- Maintain scholarly activity in accordance with ACGME requirements
- Participate in resident journal clubs
- Mentor residents on their senior projects and participate in research studies
- Provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting
Candidate Requirements:
- MD/DO degree
- DEA certificate
- Board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine
- Maintain CME
- Licensed in Michigan or eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within 3 months of hire
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine
- Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and to community health centers
Work Experience:
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine
- Experience with outpatient medical faculty preferred
