Fleet Management Experience | 2-4 Years | Required
Additional Details:
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; with five years' experience and/or extensive knowledge of fleet management, mechanical repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Well-developed computer skills and proficient in using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
Principles and practices of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Principles and practices of fleet management.
Basic budgeting principles.
Principles and practices of safety management.
Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances related to operation of vehicles.
Job Description Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Fleet Manager is to be responsible for the efficient operation of the fleet for the agency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the development of fleet administration standards and vehicle operating policies; preparation of annual budgets and periodic reports on operating costs; purchase or lease of vehicles and equipment; and control over maintenance. repair. replacement and disposal of vehicles.
What You'll Do:
• Works closely with contracted fleet companies to plan and administer preventative maintenance and vehicle replacement programs for the agency.
• Ensures that all vehicles and equipment purchased are licensed and registered as required by state law.
• Assists in coordinating and monitoring proper maintenance and repair of all agency owned vehicles.
• Works closely with the Risk Manager to develop asset-related risk management training, such as safety and accident preventions programs.
• Receives and processes vehicles accident and damage reports.
• Investigates accidents to determine cause and initiates preventative measures. Completes analysis and reports pertaining to vehicles monthly and as needed. Monitors departmental needs by analysis of vehicles and equipment utilization and needs of the people supported.
• Makes recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team and arranges for the purchase, lease, and delivery or disposal of vehicles.
• Monitors all expenditures of each vehicle including repairs. fuel, supplies. etc. Carries out regular progress checks on vehicles and equipment under service and repair.
• Inspects each vehicle at least annually.
• Keeps current on all new material and technology developments affecting the area of fleet management and maintenance.
• Remains available for emergency situations in an on-call status after regular work hours.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and complies with all agency policies and procedures. As well as state and federal statutes and regulations to specific program areas.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required.
• Maintain current certification in all required training as outlined by agency policy and/or state and federal regulations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Completes all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
