Huron partners with Baystate Health to manage and optimize Revenue Cycle operations across the health system, driving operational excellence, financial performance, and an exceptional patient experience. As the Patient Access Manager - Emergency Department, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all Emergency Department registration and front-end revenue cycle functions, ensuring efficient patient throughput, registration accuracy, regulatory compliance, and revenue integrity. Working collaboratively with Baystate Health and Huron leadership, you will lead high-performing teams, implement best practices, leverage technology and data-driven insights, and drive initiatives that improve both patient access and financial outcomes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage daily Emergency Department Patient Access operations, ensuring efficient patient registration, eligibility verification, point-of-service collections, and accurate demographic and insurance data capture.
Monitor and improve key operational metrics related to registration quality, patient throughput, financial clearance, productivity, and revenue cycle performance.
Lead, coach, and develop Patient Access staff through performance management, training, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
Collaborate with clinical, operational, and revenue cycle stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements that reduce denials, improve revenue capture, and enhance the patient experience.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, EMTALA standards, patient privacy regulations, and revenue cycle best practices.
Support staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation activities to maintain service levels and meet departmental performance expectations.
Partner with Baystate Health and Huron leadership to support strategic initiatives, operational change management efforts, and continuous improvement programs across Emergency Department Patient Access functions.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Effective and efficient organization and planning skills with the proven ability to manage complex multi-workstream performance improvement projects or multiple concurrent client engagements, while delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members
Proven analytical and critical thinking skills required to synthesize complex data sets and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and trends to implement recommendations resulting in measurable performance improvement and successful organizational change
Impactful and professional written and verbal communication set clear project team direction, develop key deliverables, escalate risks, and influence key stakeholders inclusive of client and internal senior leadership
Ability to collaborate with team members and client counterparts to understand business challenges, adapt implementation methodologies and approaches to ensure results align with client’s business objectives
Team leadership experience including building talent, training, supervising, coaching/mentoring, and performance management
CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. work authorization required
Bachelor's degree required
Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Direct Supervisory Experience required
Patient Access experience required, 1-3 years in a leadership capacity preferred
5+ years of healthcare operations experience
The estimated base salary for this job is $80,000 - $109,000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $96,000 - $130,800. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs.
