Shift 1 (5am -1:30PM)
What you will do
The Business Systems Technician (Moonshiner) is a hands‑on Lean prototyping technician responsible for rapidly designing, fabricating, and testing low‑cost solutions that support process improvement, 3P (Production Preparation Process) activities, and Kaizen events. This role operates within the “moonshine shop,” a dedicated space for creative experimentation, and transforms conceptual Lean ideas into physical prototypes that can be tested on the shop floor.
How you will do it
• Build low cost, rapid prototypes using available materials to support Lean improvements, ergonomic enhancements, and equipment modifications.
• Translate conceptual ideas from Kaizen teams into functional mock ups for evaluation and iteration.
• Support 3P events by constructing models, fixtures, layout mock ups, and process simulations.
• Collaborate closely with the Lean Technical Specialist to ensure prototypes align with Lean principles, safety standards, and operational requirements.
• Conduct try storming (rapid experimentation) to validate concepts before full scale implementation.
• Maintain the moonshine shop, including tools, materials, safety protocols, and documentation.
• Provide hands on support during Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and problem solving activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute creative, practical solutions.
What we look for
Required
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on fabrication skills (wood, metal, plastics, fasteners, simple electrical).
• Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or technical trades preferred.
• Ability to interpret sketches, simple drawings, and conceptual ideas.
• Creative problem solver with a bias for action and experimentation.
• Familiarity with Lean principles (5S, waste elimination, flow, ergonomics) is an asset.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, iterative environment with minimal supervision.
