Full job description
- Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours, 7:00 PM -7:00 AM, night shift . This unit self-schedules. Some weekend shifts & holidays rotation required, two call shifts per 6 week time tract required. This will be discussed further during interview.
- Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Location: Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC
- Requirements: NICU or pediatric experience is required for this position.
Unit Info: Level III and Level IV NICU. Provides expert, around-the-clock intensive care for premature and seriously ill babies born or transferred here from outlying counties. Our specialized team works to help bring little ones home as soon as possible.
- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
- Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill neonates at the beginning of each shift and throughout the day.
- Provide individualized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns.
- Educate parents regarding their infant's diagnosis, treatment plan, and expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, lactation consultants, and surgeons.
