Position Summary

At AMB, Welders play a critical role in the production of propulsion bearings used in U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines. A Welder at AMB is expected to be proficient in GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes. This is a hands-on, multi-functional role that also supports assembly and babbitting operations. Day to day, you will be performing weld repairs on castings, assembling large components, and running centrifugal casting of babbitt.

As a Welder, you will:

• Read and follow drawings, factory documentation, and welding procedures to perform your work correctly.

• Take ownership of your work cell — keep it running efficiently, meet deadlines, and make quality your standard.

• Weld on copper nickel, nickel copper, stainless, and various grades of cast steel in accordance with established welding procedures.

• Perform centrifugal casting operations to produce plain journal bearings.

• Support general assembly work across AMB's product lines.

• Check your own work, meet quality requirements, and communicate any non-conformances through the proper channels.

• Keep your area clean and safe and take care of your equipment through daily maintenance routines.

The ideal candidate has:

• Five or more years of welding experience.

• A genuine interest in learning and growing — someone who sees this as a career, not just a job.

• The ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, weld procedures, and technical requirements.

• Excellent communication skills — you will work alongside different teams and individuals on a daily basis.

• A strong work ethic. You take ownership of your work, welcome a challenge, and look for solutions rather than workarounds.

Additional Requirements:

• Applicant will need to take an aptitude test as apart of the hiring process.

• Applicant will constantly remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

• Applicant will regularly lift and move 25lbs in all directions.

• Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stopping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position

• Must be available for overtime and weekend hours as needed

• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
