Our client, a global leader in the consumer packaged goods industry, is seeking a Plant Safety Specialist (Group SHE Specialist) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in plant safety and/or construction safety, OSHA compliance expertise, contractor safety management experience, and a proven ability to build and sustain a strong safety culture in a manufacturing environment.

Job Title: Plant Safety Specialist (Group SHE Specialist)
Location: Jefferson City, MO
Contract: 10 Months (extension possible)
Pay Range: $34 - $41/hr

What's the Job?

  • Lead safety activities for a major manufacturing site project, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, Unilever standards, and site safety requirements.
  • Develop and execute the site safety strategy in partnership with project teams, contractors, and site leadership.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Lead contractor safety management, including safety reviews, audits, site access controls, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, performing root cause analysis and driving corrective actions.
  • Plan and execute emergency response drills, evacuation simulations, and site preparedness activities.
  • Deliver safety training, daily safety dialogues, and awareness programs to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilize tools and technologies such as cameras, drones, sensors, and other monitoring methods to identify hazards and improve safety performance.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives to reduce site risks and environmental impact.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years of Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE/EHS/HSE) experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, or related environments.
  • Experience managing contractor safety and compliance within an active manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing effective safety controls.
  • Proven ability to influence employees, contractors, and leadership teams to drive a strong safety culture.
  • Experience leading safety training, safety committees, audits, and emergency response activities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Manufacturing, food production, consumer goods, industrial facility, or capital project experience highly preferred.
