Your Job:

As the DC Shipping Clerk at Brooks, you are a key member of the shipping department and instrumental in ensuring our daily parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), and truckload volume ships by their expected delivery date. You will partner with Shipping leadership. Your primary duties will revolve around handling bills of lading (BOLs) and shipping-related paperwork in a Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) compliant manner, and opening and closing small parcel shipping (SPS)/less-than-truckload (LTL)/full truckload (FTL) trucks to ensure accurate invoicing.  

Responsibilities

• Printing and handling BOLs and other paperwork necessary to complete a shipment.

• Maintaining FTZ-related compliance of paperwork.

• Problem-solving customer orders.

• Checking in and out Parcel/LTL/TL drivers.

• Identify process roadblocks and provide root causes to Supervisor or Lead.

• Maintain understanding and proficiency with customer applications/systems required to perform duties.

• Support Supervisor and Lead with special projects.

• Perform all duties in safe and compliant manner.

• Provide back up for DC Waving Clerks.

• Help maintain customer compliance guidelines by working with the Compliance Control department.

• Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in shipping at a distribution center

• Must be forklift certified 

• Problem solving skills

• Computer proficiency: MS Office Suite, Outlook, Softeon, and internet required

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate adverse situations positively

• Good organizational skills with the ability to follow instructions

• Proficient with bar code scanners

• Read/write legibly, count, and conduct simple math

• Able to lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally

• Ability to interact effectively with others be a team player

• Maintain a good attendance record

• Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time – up to 10 hours/day when needed
