Full job description

Summary: The Low Voltage Data Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems including alarm systems, telecom, audio/visual equipment, access control, and automation devices. This role involves reading blueprints, running wiring, setting up equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards.


Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM


Seniority Level: Entry Level


Employment Type: Full-time


Compensation: This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $22 to $25 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $55,000 and $71,700 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.


To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Install, service, and integrate low voltage systems, including intrusion alarms, video surveillance, card access, telephone systems, and data networks.
  • Respond to basic customer inquiries upon completion of MSI training.
  • Travel to MSI locations across the U.S. as needed; all travel expenses are company-paid.
  • Manage and regularly update MSI systems.
  • Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Additionally, the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) plus year of experience as a Low Voltage Data Technician required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the U.S. for 10 to 15 weeks annually required.
  • Basic computer or tablet proficiency is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform well under pressure required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 70 lbs.
