Additional Duties:
- Assigned to one of the following functions, learns to perform duties specific to the equipment used:
- Manual – use manual controls to run machines through required functions
- Automatic – changes and chamfers bar stock, understands tooling controls and dimensions.
- Fabrication
- Finishing – ability to sharpen own tools.
- Lapping – measure and verify dimensions specified, maintain lapping plate condition
- Part Wash – Operate various part washing systems
- Molding – Understands controls
- Training in the use of measuring instruments to inspect parts and may follow Quality Control (Q.C.) sampling plan depending on function.
- Training to use a microscope to view and inspect parts.
- Maintains and completes appropriate paperwork and makes data collection transactions as needed.
- Verifies conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to tolerance and company specifications.
- Must meet or exceed production requirements for job.
- Learns to identify dull or worn inserts or tools as needed in assigned work center.
- Understands order of operations.
- Learns set ups and completes simple jobs. Learns to jog and cycle a machine through all functions.
- Able to complete preventative maintenance tasks as required.
- Will require assistance from lead persons or higher-level machinists.
- Maintains neat and orderly work areas, understands the concepts of 5S.
- Learns to make off sets and perform tool and insert changes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduate or GED or BOCES Machine Shop or Skilled trade school
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic shop math knowledge. Basic blueprint reading skills
