Landlord-Tenant Litigation Paralegal Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 4+ years focused on unlawful detainer or landlord-tenant law in California
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office 365, and legal practice/case management software (Clio, Filevine, MyCase, ProLaw)
- Excellent analytical, proofreading, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage high-pressure and fast-track legal proceedings
Landlord-Tenant Litigation Paralegal Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and coordinate service of statutory pre-litigation notices in accordance with state and local law
- Prepare Judicial Council forms, complaints, answers, motions, and complex pleadings for unlawful detainer cases
- Manage litigation dockets, monitor deadlines, and maintain compliance with expedited statutory timelines
- E-file documents across various California jurisdictions and liaise with court personnel
- Propound and respond to discovery, including interrogatories and requests for production and admissions
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit management, subpoenas, and witness coordination
- Draft post-judgment documents and coordinate with county authorities on enforcement actions and evictions
- Serve as a primary point of contact between attorneys, clients, property managers, tenants, and related parties
