Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred.

• BSN completion preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Declinations not accepted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Qualivis Program - University of Virginia and no current placement allowed at Program: Qualivis Program - University of Virginia.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: Any hit on your license must be disclosed. Hits will be sent to UVA leadership for approval prior to proceeding.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Special Requests: Travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days, regardless of time away.

Unit Details: Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population. Diverse medical-surgical/telemetry population primarily comprised of general surgery and trauma patients; post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit, with the remaining 10% having medical diagnoses. Includes trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery services. All rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry. Monitored patients are covered by monitor techs at a central monitoring unit; nurses are not required to verify strips.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Every other weekend. Every other holiday. Must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. RTO max: 40 hours per assignment.

Floating Requirements: May float to other acute care units per UVA float policy.
