Premium Accountant I

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Premium Accountant I to join their Oklahoma City accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting the accurate processing, reconciliation, and reporting of insurance premium activity while maintaining strong internal controls and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Process, post, and reconcile insurance premium payments and related transactions.
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of premium accounts, cash receipts, and general ledger activity.
Research and resolve discrepancies between premium records, accounting systems, bank activity, and supporting documentation.
Prepare journal entries and account adjustments as needed.
Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting support.
Review premium activity for accuracy, completeness, and proper account classification.
Maintain organized documentation and audit support for accounting transactions.
Work closely with internal departments to research payment discrepancies and resolve outstanding items.
Assist with reporting, analysis, and other accounting projects as assigned.
Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls within a highly regulated insurance environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
1+ year of accounting experience; insurance or premium accounting experience is a plus.
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting or ERP systems.
Understanding of general accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
