This is a full-time, dedicated night shift Emergency Medicine Nocturnist position at a community hospital emergency department in Lima, Ohio. The department sees approximately 28,000 patient visits annually, operates with a stable and experienced clinical staff, and maintains a structured, predictable night schedule. The role requires 1,456 clinical hours annually, spread across dedicated night coverage with APP overlap support during shift hours.

Schedule

Full-time, dedicated nights. Total required clinical hours are 1,456 annually. APP overlap coverage is provided during night hours to support patient throughput.

Compensation

$215.00 per hour for all clinical hours worked.

What You'll Do

As the on-site Emergency Medicine attending during night hours, you will have full clinical autonomy over patient care in the emergency department. You will direct the evaluation and management of acute presentations across the full spectrum of emergency medicine, from low-acuity community complaints to time-sensitive critical cases, and make independent disposition decisions throughout your shift.

You will work alongside dedicated Advanced Practice Providers during night hours, coordinating care and supporting throughput in a department that runs approximately 28,000 visits per year. The volume is steady and the patient mix is consistent with a community hospital profile, which allows for a structured and manageable clinical pace.

Documentation is supported by a current human scribe model. The department is planning a future transition to AI-assisted scribing to further reduce charting burden, though the timeline for that transition has not been confirmed.

You will practice within the Meditech EMR platform and operate within a department that has established workflows, a collaborative medical staff, and low administrative friction relative to larger academic or trauma center environments.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (BC/BE required)
• Active Ohio medical license or documented eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start
• Valid DEA registration
• ACLS certification (current)
• ATLS certification (current or willingness to obtain)
• PALS certification (current)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a nocturnist or in a dedicated night shift attending role
• Prior experience in a community hospital emergency department setting
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR
• Experience working alongside Advanced Practice Providers in a collaborative attending model
• ABEM or AOBEM board certification (as opposed to board eligibility)
