Description:

Join Trinity Health Of New England’s Pharmacy team and play a vital role in supporting safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution for Oncology and Infusion therapy patients. . Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in processing medication orders, preparing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring patients receive the medications they need. Tier III technicians may also prepare sterile IV medications and chemotherapy products under pharmacist supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare, package, and distribute medications for inpatient care areas

  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), including medication loading, inventory management, and troubleshooting

  • Process and prioritize medication orders, including urgent STAT requests

  • Prepare sterile IV admixtures and chemotherapy medications using aseptic technique

  • Deliver medications and supplies to nursing units and patient care areas

  • Maintain medication inventory, stock pharmacy work areas, and assist with drug order receiving and storage

  • Conduct medication storage inspections and support regulatory compliance initiatives

  • Maintain accurate records related to medication use, inventory, and charges

  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support exceptional patient care

  • Follow all hospital, pharmacy, and regulatory policies to ensure medication safety and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of sterile IV compounding and chemotherapy preparation experience required

  • Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure or Pharmacy Intern license required

  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)--if not already obtained-- is required within 1 year

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in hospital, inpatient, infusion, or retail pharmacy settings.

  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation systems, medication distribution, and sterile compounding.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, and physical activity in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
