Full job description
**Job Summary:**
American Family Care is seeking PRN Medical Assistants to support their urgent care centers by providing a blend of clinical care, patient registration, and insurance verification services. This flexible role requires a commitment to work a minimum of 4 shifts per month, with the option for more, to assist during peak patient volumes and staffing needs.
**Responsibilities:**
- **Clinical Care:** Greet and triage patients, take vitals, perform various tests, assist with procedures, and provide patient care.
- **Insurance Verification & Front Desk:** Register patients, verify insurance coverage, handle financial responsibilities, and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- **Patient Service:** Educate patients on procedures, financial aspects of their care, provide discharge instructions, and handle patient concerns professionally.
- **Team & Compliance:** Participate in team meetings, ensure compliance with standards, and maintain logs for equipment and supplies.
**Qualifications:**
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) required at hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance verification and patient registration.
- Active BLS certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Prior experience in urgent care or emergency room settings preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and venipuncture skills.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and float to other centers when needed.
**Additional Requirements:**
- Full availability to meet scheduling needs.
**Compensation:**
The expected pay range for this role is $XX.XX - XX.XX per hour, with possible shift differentials. Final compensation will be based on experience, certifications, education, and location. Benefits and advancement opportunities are available based on PRN/part-time status.
**Work Environment:**
