Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
Requirements:
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <75 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Credentials: Must have completed a program sponsored by nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and maintain certification, completed an appropriate military training program, maintained certification from an accredited program, or been employed as a surgical technologist in a health care facility on or before the effective date of the act (12/27/2020) or at another health care facility two years before the effective date (12/27/2020). Staff employed to practice surgical technology by the health care facility on or before the effective date of the law (12/27/2020), or who were employed as a surgical technologist at another health care facility two years before the effective date of the law, are grandfathered and therefore not required to have certification.
Special Requests: Clinicians may be eligible for an earlier start date if they have recent PA fingerprint results and PA Child Abuse Clearance Results (obtained within <5 years).
Unit Details: Supports orthopedic surgical cases with sterile setup; passes instruments, sponges and sutures; checks equipment; counts sponges, needles, supplies and instruments; handles specimens; applies dressings; and cleans and restocks the operating room. Medication access is limited to distributing medication to the nurse.
Shift & Scheduling: Daylight shifts rotate weekly: 5:30 AM-2:00 PM, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM, or 7:30 AM-end of day; the 7:30 AM-end-of-day shift includes elective cases and any add-ons. Weekend call is required from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for 2 weekends in a 6-week schedule. Weekend coverage is call only with no elective schedule, and there is no weekday call; the call is not busy. The 7:30 AM team must stay to finish elective cases (approximately 4:00 PM-4:30 PM) and add-ons; this may require working 1, 2 or more hours past the scheduled shift, although more than 2 hours is not common.
