Full job description

Rubbercraft is seeking a Manufacturing Technician I - Calendaring (1st Shift) who will support the production of high-quality calendered materials used in aerospace and industrial applications. This position is responsible for setting up and operating calendaring equipment, monitoring product quality, maintaining accurate production documentation, and ensuring materials meet required specifications while supporting a safe, efficient, and continuous manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Company's Mission, Vision & Values.
  • Drive a positive customer experience and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Senior Calendaring Technician to produce calendered materials that meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor calendaring equipment to produce fabric and material rolls in accordance with manufacturing routers, work orders, and specifications.
  • Ensure calendered materials meet required thickness, width, appearance, and other process specifications.
  • Prepare, mix, and apply primers and adhesives as required by manufacturing routers and work instructions while following all applicable safety procedures.
  • Maintain proper material identification, lot traceability, and documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Complete router sign-offs, in-process verifications, and production documentation accurately and completely.
  • Read, understand, and follow manufacturing routers, travelers, work instructions, specifications, and quality documentation.
  • Perform visual and in-process inspections of materials and segregate non-conforming product.
  • Clean, inspect, and perform routine housekeeping of calendaring equipment, workstations, and the department.
  • Assist the Material Preparation and Milling departments as production demands require.
  • Safely operate production equipment while following all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and submit Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) recommendations when appropriate.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices in accordance with company policies and departmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred; experience with calendaring equipment, rubber processing, mills, converting, laminating, coating, or other industrial manufacturing equipment is highly desirable.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, rulers, thickness gauges, tape measures, and scales preferred.
  • Experience working with industrial primers, adhesives, coatings, or chemicals is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, medical, automotive, or similar) is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to understand and perform basic shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and basic calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce material within specification.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturing routers, travelers, work instructions, specifications, and production documentation.
  • Ability to follow AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, documentation requirements, and work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate production equipment while following established safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to safely handle industrial chemicals in accordance with company procedures and Hazard Communication (HazCom) requirements.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production records, material traceability, and required documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support other production departments as production demands require.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • On-the-job training will be provided on departmental procedures, work instructions, equipment operation, quality requirements, and the safe handling of chemicals used within the department.
