Full job description
Animal Clinic East is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to continue utilizing and developing a well-rounded skillset across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. We are seeking dependable, motivated candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask efficiently, anticipate team needs, communicate professionally, and take pride in delivering exceptional support throughout every stage of the patient visit.
In this position, you will take an active role in:
- Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
- Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
- Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
- Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
Schedule and compensation:
- Compensation: $20-25 per hour, for each hour worked
- This is a full-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday. Rotating Saturday on-call shifts with $50 stipend + hourly pay if called in.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
- Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
- Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
About us:
Animal Clinic East is a full-service hospital that offers routine medical care, emergency surgery, orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and grooming services to Walla Walla pets. We prioritize preventative care and are well equipped with digital radiology, an in-house lab, ultrasound, laser therapy, and a long-term, highly skilled support staff (including multiple LVTs)! Our eight-doctor team primarily sees small animals and pocket pets; however, we also treat avian and wildlife patients on occasion. We promote a strong culture, where everyone enjoys each other’s company, and our hospital feels like a home away from home.
