Transform your military experience and security awareness into operational impact as a Facility Security Officer (FSO) Support Fellow with GDIT. A career in facility and industrial security means protecting the people, technologies, and information that enable national mission success. In this Fellowship, you will gain meaningful exposure to personnel security processing, physical security operations, compliance requirements, clearance systems, and classified program support within a dynamic, multi‑program environment.

At GDIT, people are our differentiators. As an Facility Security Officer (FSO) Support Fellow, you will learn how NISPOM and DoW compliance frameworks are executed in industry, how security incidents are documented and mitigated, how physical safeguards are implemented across a 95,000+ sq. ft. facility, and how personnel security workflows are managed through automated systems such as DISS and NISS. Working alongside experienced Facility Security Officers and Security Specialists, you will gain practical experience in access control, briefings, investigations, SOP development, government interaction, and facility protection.

This Fellowship is designed to build the professional readiness needed for future employment as a full‑time Assistant FSO, Security Specialist, or Facility Security Officer supporting DoW and government programs.

  • Observe and support security briefings, debriefings, and ongoing security education efforts, including creating and updating training materials.
  • Participate in physical security operations across a 95,000+ sq. ft. industrial facility, including access control, badge administration, visitor processing, and camera system observation.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining SOPs, TTPs, emergency procedures, and compliance documentation required under NISPOM, contract guidelines, and government policy.
  • Support documentation and tracking of security violations, including incident reports, corrective actions, and coordination with external agencies under FSO supervision.
  • Gain exposure to classified information system protection requirements and observe the processes used to secure classified environments.
  • Assist with facility inspections, self‑assessments, audit preparation, and coordination with government security representatives.
  • Prepare reports, logs, documentation, and security metrics using Microsoft Office Suite and automated security tools.
  • Learn how security compliance, personnel reliability, risk mitigation, and facility protection standards are implemented across multi‑program environments.
  • Support administrative and operational security tasks that ensure safeguarding compliance, personnel processing efficiency, and facility readiness.
  • Participate in special projects, process‑improvement efforts, and security program enhancements supporting mission requirements.
