This scientist will work in our oligonucleotide development laboratories located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The responsibilities include oligonucleotide synthesis process development, characterization, and scale-up to support the development and production of drug candidates. The individual will explore novel ideas to improve the oligonucleotide synthesis process for superior consistency or productivity. The position also involves developing synthesis processes of non-platform oligonucleotides. The ability to design, perform, and record experiment procedures and data, interpret data, and write development reports is critical.
Main job responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with development teams to design and conduct laboratory experiments to optimize and/or characterize the synthesis processes of oligonucleotides with an emphasis on improvement in process robustness and productivity and control of impurities.
- Record the experimental procedures and data accurately.
- Communicate research results effectively by writing research reports and presenting data in team meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific Discipline required and 3+ years of experience OR
- Master's Degree in a Scientific Discipline required and 1+ years of experience
- Experience working with LC/MS is required
- Areas of specialization reside in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, with excellent synthetic skills and a deep understanding of reactivity and reaction mechanisms.
- Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment and effectively communicate in written and oral forms.
- The individual must be self-driven, an independent thinker, vigorous and thorough in conducting experiments, collecting and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
- Experience in nucleoside chemistry or oligonucleotide synthesis is preferred but not required.
The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Cambridge, MA are encouraged to apply.
