Job Details
The Night Shift Pharmacist Supervisor supports safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing and pharmaceutical care activities across routine pharmacy operations. Applies foundational clinical and operational judgment to maintain medication safety, documentation integrity, and service continuity. Contributes to medication access, inventory stewardship, and issue resolution within defined practice standards and digital workflows. Builds proficiency in future-oriented pharmacy practices that improve patient outcomes, regulatory alignment, and operational reliability
Hours: Sunday to Thursday nights 9pm to 6am
Responsibilities:
Lead and support Team Members assigned to night operations.
Coordinate staffing and workflow based on business priorities, customer demand, order volume, and available resources.
Ensure appropriate coverage across key operational areas and adjust resources as needed throughout the shift.
Monitor productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and compliance with established procedures.
Provide coaching, feedback, recognition, and direction to support team performance and development.
Partner with Distribution Center leadership on performance management, training, attendance, development, and employee relations matters.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, safety, and continuous improvement.
Provide hands-on support during periods of high volume, staffing challenges, or other critical business needs.
Escalate significant operational, personnel, safety, quality, or compliance concerns when appropriate.
Responsible for developing Biweekly team schedule and vacation assignments calendar.
Distribution Operations
Oversee night-shift distribution activities to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor order flow and operational priorities to meet established service and shipping commitments.
Coordinate activities across picking, replenishment, controlled-access areas, refrigerated product handling, shipping, and other operational functions.
Identify risks to shift execution and implement corrective actions to maintain operational performance.
Support staffing and resource decisions that keep the operation running efficiently.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with SOPs, quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Assist the licensed pharmacist with required double-check validations of controlled substance shipments and other distribution activities, particularly during periods of limited staffing or operational need, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Deliver a clear and comprehensive handoff to incoming leadership, including operational status, staffing concerns, compliance issues, risks, and follow-up actions.
Pharmacy & Regulatory Responsibilities
Maintain an active pharmacist license in Puerto Rico and remain in good standing with all applicable licensing requirements.
Serve as the licensed pharmacist supporting night-shift operations in compliance with Puerto Rico regulations, company policies, licenses, and procedures.
Provide pharmaceutical oversight for distribution activities requiring the involvement of a licensed pharmacist—including but, not limited to the validation of all controlled substance shipments via a double-check process, for both local distribution and export—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Ensure pharmaceutical products are handled, stored, documented, and distributed according to regulatory and company requirements.
Support compliance programs related to controlled substances, prescription products, refrigerated pharmaceuticals, product integrity, security, documentation, and other regulated activities.
Address or escalate quality, regulatory, and product-related concerns identified during the shift.
Maintain required records and documentation associated with pharmacist responsibilities.
Partner with Head Pharmacist, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Security, and Distribution Center leadership to maintain audit and inspection readiness.
Support investigations and corrective actions involving pharmacy or regulatory matters as needed.
Prepare the Controlled orders shipments for USVI and maintain a record of all the documents for such orders.
Assist Head Pharmacist in processing orders in the system when operation permits, this ensures continuity of orders.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Reinforce compliance with safety programs, SOPs, security requirements, quality standards, and regulatory procedures.
Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Support incident investigations and corrective or preventive actions.
Maintain awareness of activities involving controlled substances, refrigerated products, restricted-access areas, and other higher-risk processes.
Immediately escalate situations that could impact patient safety, product integrity, regulatory compliance, employee safety, or customer service.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
Skills and Knowledge:
2+ years of experience in retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, dispensing operations, medication review, or a related field required.
Certification in pharmacy licensure, registration, or authorization to practice in the applicable jurisdiction where legally required, or equivalent preferred.
