We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full Time, Medical Receptionist at Gastroenterology of Ocean County in Toms River, NJ with some days in our Brick and Forked River locations.

About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a healthcare facility's front desk and patient intake processes. This position is responsible for managing patient appointments, handling inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. The role requires effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate seamless patient flow and support quality care delivery. The Medical Receptionist 3 also assists with billing processes, insurance verification, and coordinating referrals, contributing to the overall financial and operational health of the practice. Ultimately, this position serves as the first point of contact for patients, embodying the organization's commitment to compassionate and efficient healthcare service.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously, verifying personal and insurance information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Assist with insurance verification, billing inquiries, and processing patient payments.
  • Coordinate referrals and authorizations with insurance companies and healthcare providers.
  • Manage waiting room flow to minimize patient wait times and optimize appointment schedules.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support daily operational needs and special projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
