Electrician - Journey Level EL01

WAGE RANGE:  $35 to $60 per hour

 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession of a Journey level Electrical EL-01 License.
• Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License.
• Must hold a high school diploma or GED, plus 5 years’ experience in the electrical trade with journey level experience working on commercial/industrial systems (installation, maintenance, and repair).
• Safe working habits including wearing hard hat, boots, safety glasses and vest and exercise safe work practices.
• Understand installation, troubleshooting and repair of transformers, motor starters and motor control.
• Competent in field maintenance methods and techniques for a wide range of electrical and HVAC equipment.
• Experience across a broad range of electrical systems and equipment unique to the HVAC industry.
• Understand and comply with pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
• Good working knowledge of current electrical standards and codes (NEC and RCW/WAC).
• Verifiable employment references.

 JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Be dedicated and self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills.
• Provide clear communication and professional personal appearance.
• Maintain license by keeping CEU’s current per Washington State laws.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Layout and install electrical systems based on job specs, design, and local codes.
• Bend conduit and pull wire.
• Prepare as-built drawings. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Troubleshoot electrical components.
• Locate cause of breakdowns then diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and hand tools to correct the problem.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Provide cause and solutions to ASEI’s engineering department when continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Work well as part of a team or alone without supervision.
• Coordinate with builders, foremen and project managers during projects.
• Deal with a wide range of people in all levels of the building/sub-contracting industry.
• Independently perform challenging electrical maintenance and repair.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be able to (infrequently) work weekends and after hours if needed.
• Confidently and safely work in high areas and tight spaces.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and HVAC systems while incorporating safety equipment and safe work practices.
• Assist and/or cross-train with other ASEI tradespeople (controls, HVAC installation, refrigeration piping, etc.) to keep the job moving forward, even if it is unrelated to electrical work specifically.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Frequently required to walk, use hands and fingers to reach, feel, grasp and manipulate; and be able to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance if needed. Specific vision abilities include the ability to see well up close and at a distance, the ability to distinguish colors, and good peripheral vision and depth perception. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
