Geographic locations in which MMSI currently operates include the U.S East, Gulf & West Coasts, and Alaska. The Corporate Office is in Southern California (Ventura) and its Regional Boat Maintenance Center a technically advanced facility in Woodbine Georgia.

How you would make an impact/key responsibilities:

Join the MMSI team as a GVA/Diesel Mechanic in an augmented capacity supporting NAS Port Operations at Building #38 in Pensacola, FL.

As an augmented team member, you will work alongside the existing Port Operations team to support day-to-day operations, provide additional workforce capacity, and apply your specialized skills as needed to meet operational and contract requirements.

Job Duties:
  • Perform vessel deck, engine, and equipment maintenance, repair, cleaning, and preservation.
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, machinery, and related equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and test mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Assist with small boat operations and support the safe movement of vessel crew and military personnel as directed by the Coxswain.
  • Support vessel, pier, and Port Operations activities, including cargo handling and general upkeep.
  • Participate in required training, qualifications, and Oil Spill Response Team activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure compliance with company, USCG, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support contract requirements.

Qualifications
  • Certification as an Outboard Motor Mechanic or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience performing mechanical maintenance and repairs on marine vessels and/or diesel-powered equipment preferred.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, hoists, gauges, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a vessel and port operations team.
  • Must be able to meet applicable USCG Merchant Mariner medical and physical requirements.
  • CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands
  • Moderate physical demands.
  • Position requires the ability to perform physical work aboard vessels and in pier-side environments, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around machinery and equipment.
  • Must meet applicable USCG Merchant Mariner Medical and Physical Examination requirements (Form CG-719K).

Work Environment
  • Work may be performed at sea, pier-side, and at adjacent Port Operations facilities.
  • Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, vessel machinery, noise, marine environments, and other operational hazards.
