Your role and responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineer, IBM Corporation, Poughkeepsie, NY:

  • Support end-to-end manufacturing and order fulfillment for IBM Z Mainframe Manufacturing Fulfillment (MFS) systems.
  • Analyze and manage Engineering Changes (ECs) for IBM Z Mainframe products and draw updates and complex ECs involving multiple Bills Of Material (BOM) and part number changes.
  • Configure and execute EC workflows in SAP for IBM Z Mainframe products, set-up SAP structures such as vendors, country of origin (CoO), cribs, intended operations, and quantities, and coordinate part trials with manufacturing as needed.
  • Perform MFS and administration for Z Mainframe products and set up alternate parts, optional parts, feature rules, and transaction logic, while providing direct production floor support to resolve order errors and technical issues.
  • Collect and maintain detailed part information and create Build Instruction Package (BIP) files for Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and Manufacturing teams on mServer to ensure accurate assembly and execution.
  • Configure and maintain zVM program settings required for IBM Z Brand orders to successfully flow through manufacturing, assembly, and shipment to clients without disruption.
  • Develop and maintain interactive manufacturing aids used by production personnel to assemble IBM mainframe systems correctly and efficiently and to process orders accurately.
  • Utilize: SAP Strategic & Infrastructure (SI); Manufacturing Floor System (MFS); ENOVIA Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software; Supply Chain Quality management; Design and Operational Excellence (DOX Lean); Design Thinking framework; Lean Manufacturing principles.


Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related (employer will accept Associates degree plus two (2) years of IT experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree) and two (2) years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Hardware Engineer or related. Two (2) years of experience must include utilizing SAP Strategic & Infrastructure (SI); Manufacturing Floor System (MFS); ENOVIA Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software; Supply Chain Quality management; Design and Operational Excellence (DOX Lean); Design Thinking framework; Lean Manufacturing principles. $134,136 to $165,000 per year. Full time. H276.
