Full job description
Attorney — Construction Litigation Associate
Manhattan, New York, NY | Full-Time | $115,000–$160,000
Position Overview
Our client's Construction Litigation practice is on an upswing, and they're bringing on an Associate in Manhattan to grow with it — this is genuinely a hiring-for-growth seat, not a replacement for someone who left. The group handles construction disputes, Labor Law defense matters, and defect/property damage claims, work that rewards precision and a real grasp of the statutory landscape unique to construction litigation in New York. You'd be in depositions and court appearances early, advising clients directly on strategy and coverage questions, and drafting the pleadings and discovery work this kind of litigation runs on, where getting the details right actually matters to outcomes. Like the firm's other litigation seats, there's an expectation you can respond when something urgent comes up — a serious incident, a client needing guidance fast — so some flexibility beyond a typical 9-to-6 caseload is part of the deal. For someone who wants to specialize and grow alongside a practice that's actively expanding, rather than settle into a seat someone else built, this is a strong landing spot.
What You'll Be Doing
Appearing at depositions, court dates, and handling motion practice in state and federal court
Advising clients directly on litigation strategy, risk, and insurance coverage questions tied to their matters
Drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and other filings with the precision this work demands
Partnering with colleagues and partners to build out case strategy and deliver strong client service
Stepping up when something urgent hits — meeting clients directly and getting a defense strategy moving fast
Bringing initiative and good judgment to the group's broader reputation for quality work
What You Bring
A J.D. from an accredited school, strong academics behind it
Admission to the NY Bar (must-have); NJ Bar is a nice-to-have
2+ years litigating, ideally with some construction or Labor Law defense exposure, plus property damage matters
Clear, confident communication — written and verbal — especially on complex issues
Solid judgment and problem-solving instincts
A proactive, resourceful streak and genuine care about quality work
Someone who works well with others and carries themselves professionally with clients
