• Surgical volumes -- approx. 4,000 per year
• Cytology -- approx. 1,000 per year
• Frozen sections and rapid on-site assessments -- fewer than 10/week
• Peripheral smears -- approx. 5 per week
• General surgical pathology skills required
• Hospital privileges required
