Environmental Services Tech

Part Time, 3P-7P, 20 Hours Per Week

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the ES Supervisor(s), but with regular daily periods of self-directed activity, performs variety of Environmental Services activities designed to maintain the medical center in an orderly, sanitary, safe, and attractive condition. Work activities are scheduled and unscheduled in nature and are subject to frequent exercises of judgment with regard to appropriate chemical supplies and equipment use, condition of equipment, fixtures, and facilities which reflect a satisfactory level of cleanliness and sanitation quality, and to situations in which patient comfort, restlessness, privacy, and general well-being may be affected by work activities.

All Environmental Service employees are responsible for abiding by Broadlawns Medical Center's Code of Conduct, all State and Federal Regulations, and all administrative and department policies. Further, all Environmental Service employees must assure that Broadlawns Medical Center's Service Excellence Program standards are met.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

1. General cleaning as assigned (7-step method)

2. Appropriate equipment use as assigned

3. Service excellence/customer service

4. Appropriate lifting up to and including 50 lbs

5. Appropriate chemical use

6. Appropriate handling of sharps/bio-hazardous waste

7. Knowledge of mandatory hospital information (codes, safety, OSHA, Joint Commission)

8. Basic floor care as assigned

9. Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Perform work as directed by Director/Supervisor/Team Lead, in a quality, customer-focused, timely manner

• Have knowledge of all required training information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•  Ability to follow instructions

• Ability to satisfactorily complete department training programs

• Ability to offer superior customer service
