Supplier Quality Engineer
Status: Exempt
Department: Quality
JOB SUMMARY
This individual will report to the Manager Supplier Quality and is responsible for implementing Quality Strategy throughout the supplier base. Will interface with employees within the customer, supplier, manufacturing and engineering organizations as necessary to achieve the highest received product quality. Responsibilities include developing and implementing an overall Continuous Quality Improvement Strategy within the supply base.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for the root cause identification and implementation of corrective actions to resolve supplier defects. Drive cost reductions through knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier capabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as focal point for inbound/out bound technical/quality communication on all production parts. Support Engineering DFMA initiatives with the collection of Supplier Cpk data on critical design features/parameters. Manage APQP Part Qualification of all production material. Oversee/support/mentor resolution of supplier quality issues using 8D/6Sigma methodologies. Manage Supplier Quality Metrics, Score Cards & Audit Programs necessary to drive continued receipt material quality growth Develop/maintain project Road Maps (internal/external) to communicate key focus areas and improvement initiatives. Work with Quality Assurance to implement inspection methods to identify defects and validate corrective actions. Support administration/disposition of defective material receipts Perform other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent supplier voice in support of engineering in design improvement, defect reduction & cost out initiatives. Participate in the development of a quality plan for company conformance to ISO or QS standards, in accordance with a world class manufacturing process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operations or business environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, able to contribute to and work on project teams. Training in 8D, Six-Sigma or other standard problem solving methodologies. Strong organization and analytical skills; detail-oriented. Experience with Process and Design Failure Modes Analysis (PFMEA, DFMEA) is required. Capacity to balance multiple projects to completion.
Pay Rate:
$60,000.00 - $93,750.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:
