Employment Litigation Managing Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- Juris Doctor (JD).
- 7+ years of plaintiff-side employment litigation experience.
- Substantial experience handling single-plaintiff employment matters.
- Proven experience managing attorneys, legal teams, or practice groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of FEHA, wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and whistleblower laws in California.
- Strong abilities in litigation strategy, case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, settlement, and trial preparation.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
Employment Litigation Managing Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Trial experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success mentoring and developing attorneys.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience leading teams in high-growth or dynamic environments.
- Familiarity with both state and federal court proceedings.
Employment Litigation Managing Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor a team of employment litigators handling single-plaintiff cases from intake through resolution.
- Develop strategy and personally evaluate new matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and whistleblower claims.
- Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations, arbitration, and trial preparation.
- Ensure high-quality legal work and compliance with California Superior Courts, U.S. District Courts, and California Code of Civil Procedure.
- Lead case reviews, provide feedback, and drive improvement in team performance and processes.
- Partner with firm leadership to support departmental growth, high standards, and positive outcomes for clients.
