Full job description
PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services. We focus on supplying building materials and solutions to professional home builders of all sizes including custom builders, large production builders, and multifamily builders. Pay: $26.62 - $31.10The Central Purchasing Service Specialist is a key member of the Purchasing Team in support of our internal customer base. The Service Specialist is individually responsible for the creation of product skus, description, and price structure within our ERP system as well as ongoing price maintenance and updates. This role is very computer and data centric and is an integral component of our ability to quickly create profits with accurate work accomplished in a timely fashion with attention to detail, triage and sense of urgency being paramount. This individual works often and seamlessly with our sales team, IT team, management, buyers, and with all of our vendor partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain product skus within our ERP including product descriptions and unit of measure and price structure and integrity
- Update and maintain product pricing perpetually based on ongoing communication around pricing with vendor partners
- Maintain base pricing in partnership with sales and purchasing team members
- Work in congress with IT and across our entire organization in support of our new ERP transition and then in perpetual support of its maintenance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experienced in the Lumber industry
- Knowledgeable in inventory control principles and protocols
- Must be able to operate a personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required
- Point-of-sale system experience (Falcon and/or K8 a plus)
- Must have reliable transportation
- Understanding of auditing best practices preferred
- Ability to operate a forklift preferred

- Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types. Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold.
- Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon in an effort to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees at a high skill level and speak effectively in front of groups. Communication can include, but is not limited to: in-person (verbal and non-verbal), written, e-mail, telephone and public speaking to medium size groups
- Strong focus, planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage changing priorities, handle multiple projects, and do what is necessary to meet deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to function independently, as part of a team, and as a leader within your own sales cohort with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Working Conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors in a normal office environment for an entire day
- Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
- Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
- Both local and overnight travel may be required
