Summary :
The Clinic Dietitian, Senior provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to individuals and groups for nutrition-related problems, chronic disease management, prevention and well-being. The Clinical Dietitian, Senior assesses nutritional status and develops and implements a comprehensive nutrition care plan. Completes nutrition focused physical assessments to accurately diagnose malnutrition. Supports writing and ordering parenteral and enteral nutrition for all hospitalized patients seven days per week when working inpatient. Participates in the interdisciplinary team providing care coordination, education, and support during the discharge process. Assists with planning, development, and implementation of department programs, policies, and goals.Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides medical nutrition therapy to individuals and groups for nutrition-related problems, chronic disease management, prevention and well-being.
- Applies critical thinking to the nutrition care process of nutrition diagnosis, intervention monitor and evaluate the patient’s status and the effectiveness in creating a holistic plan of care that includes cultural diversity and special needs
- Manages complex cases and specialized nutrition support independently
- Serves as a preceptor or mentor for new staff and students
- Participates in interdisciplinary rounds providing care coordination, education and support
- Contributes to policy and procedure development
- Serves as a nutrition consultant across departments
- Presents at hospital/clinic or community-based nutrition education programs or support groups
- Provides Nutrition Education. Identifies formal and informal learning opportunities to provide appropriate nutrition education
- Participates in quality operating system (QOS) improvement efforts to improve nutrition care provided throughout the organization
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Dietitian Nutrition (RDN/RD)
- RDN/RD must be a State of Wisconsin Certified Dietitian (CD) or show proof of application for certification within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Proven clinical experience, often with specialty focus (e.g., eating disorders, obesity, home care, oncology, nutrition support, critical care, diabetes)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
- Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the facility
- Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers
