  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification course: Week of October 11, online hours and 4 hours in-person
  • Mandatory new hire department training: Week of October 11, 2 hours, in-person
  • Mandatory new hire position training: Week of October 11, 3-10 hours, in-person

Position Job Description 

Summary of Responsibilities:

Intramural Sports Officials are responsible for officiating all intramural sports events. Officials must ensure participants' safety while upholding the integrity of the game. Officials will use decision-making skills when making calls and conflict management skills to handle confrontations. In addition, officials are held to a higher standard when they participate in our program.

Primary Duties:

  • Attend intramural sport program trainings, clinics, and meetings
  • Officiate all sports offered by Intramural Sports
  • Utilize Imleagues for player check-in and game reporting.
  • Examine the playing facility for safety hazards
  • Enforce rules and policies as judiciously as possible
  • Oversee the Intramural contest and ensure participation takes place in a safe manner
  • Complete necessary forms
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of game equipment
  • Assist with the maintenance needs of the Cain Sports Complex, including moving heavy items, organizing equipment, cleaning, and raking soil
  • Assign teams' sportsmanship ratings after each contest
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Department Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming and assisting Campus Recreation participants, answering questions accurately and professionally, addressing concerns in a courteous manner, and creating a positive, engaging environment for all patrons and participants.
  • Market Campus Recreation and area events.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing an environment where people feel welcomed, valued, supported, and respected as they work to pursue their academic and professional goals.
  • Act as a first responder in emergency situations
  • Attend all department and area training and meetings assigned
  • Must possess a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Provided by the department at no cost
  • Keep up to date on all TrainTraq assignments
  • Be prepared to encounter and respond to various hazards, with training provided to ensure safety and proper handling of potential risks.
  • Maintain a standard of conduct while participating in Campus Rec activities or facilities, serving as a role model for other patrons by adhering to all safety, behavior, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assists with department events and programming as needed
  • Work early morning, night and weekend hours as needed

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Must be able to work evenings, Monday-Thursday between 5-11pm, and occasional weekends

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior participation in Intramural Sports or Sports
