Department Details
The Telemetry Department plays a vital role in supporting patient care across three hospitals, including our tertiary care center in Marshfield. As a Telemetry Monitor Technician, you will serve as the eyes and ears of the healthcare team, continuously monitoring and analyzing cardiac rhythms and other physiological data using advanced telemetry technology. In this role, you will identify significant changes in patient conditions, respond to alarm parameters, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing and medical staff, including during emergency situations. Success requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment where timely communication can directly impact patient outcomes.
Telemetry Monitor Technicians collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals while maintaining a high degree of independence in their daily responsibilities. Your expertise and vigilance play an essential role in promoting patient safety and delivering high-quality care across the organization. Job Summary
The Monitor Tech provides support services. Some duties include: basic computer keyboarding skills, tearing down and assembling patient charts as appropriate, calling other departments to inform them of ordered tests and procedures as needed, and stocking supplies. In addition, the monitor tech will be responsible in monitoring and interpreting patient heart rhythms and vital signs as well as following set algorithm parameters that may raise alarms. Ability to interpret alarms and follow through with appropriate communication as needed.
Depending on location, the monitor tech may also be providing continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. Summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Follows set algorithms, interprets alarming events, and follows through with appropriate communication as needed.
Qualifications
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required.
Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
