Position Summary

Make an Impact

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll help develop advanced radar systems that enable the U.S. Navy to detect, track, and respond to complex threats in demanding operational environments. At Ultra Maritime, you’ll work at the intersection of mission requirements and engineering execution, helping turn customer needs into systems that perform in the real world.

You’ll work alongside RF, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and other engineering disciplines throughout the system lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through integration, verification, and test. Your technical judgment will help shape system design, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver capabilities that support the warfighter.

Job Description

What You Will Do

  • Support the development of advanced radar and mission systems supporting critical Navy applications.

  • Translate mission needs and customer objectives into system-level requirements, designs, and technical solutions.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the systems development lifecycle, from concept and requirements through integration, verification, and test.

  • Develop, derive, validate, and analyze system-level requirements to ensure they support intended mission capabilities.

  • Evaluate technical approaches and perform system-level trade studies to balance performance, risk, cost, schedule, and technical feasibility.

  • Partner with the Project Engineer and engineering teams to make technical trade-offs and recommend solutions.

  • Analyze system performance and engineering data to evaluate system behavior, identify issues, and drive improvements.

  • Support the integration and testing of complex hardware and software systems, including development of test plans and procedures.

  • Work with advanced digital signal processing hardware and complex software algorithms to evaluate and improve system performance.

  • Help evaluate and influence technologies that will enable future Navy mission capabilities.

  • Contribute to proposals, Independent Research and Development (IR&D), technology development, and future system architectures.

  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly across engineering disciplines and program stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • Experience in at least one area of systems engineering, such as:

    • Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

    • Requirements development, derivation, or validation

    • System design

    • System or performance analysis

    • Integration and test

    • Test plan and procedure development

  • Basic scripting experience with Python or MATLAB.

  • Experience working in a Linux/UNIX environment, including hands-on use of scripts and engineering tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, analysis, and recommendations clearly.

It’s a Plus If You Have

  • Experience developing models, simulations, or analytical tools using Python or MATLAB.

  • Experience planning or executing integration and test activities for combined hardware and software systems.

  • Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the systems development lifecycle.

  • Experience with radar, RF, digital signal processing, or other signal-processing systems.

  • Knowledge of algorithms used for detection, tracking, navigation, discrimination, or other radar signal-processing functions.

  • Experience with automated testing, unit testing, or software debugging and analysis in C++, with Python or MATLAB for data evaluation.

  • Knowledge of Navy platforms or common Navy system interfaces.

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, processes, or techniques

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • BS Degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college

  • Eligible to obtain a Secret level US Government Security Clearance.  Security Clearances are granted to only US Citizens.
