Alliance Animal Health is a fast-growing veterinary organization that operates as a business partner to veterinary practices across the U.S. We make it easier for our practices by providing business solutions, talent acquisition, marketing, human resources, finance, and operational support. This enables our veterinarians to maintain their passion for medicine and focus on providing incredible care for animals.
Our Core Values are quite literally written with PETS in mind: Passion, Engagement, Trust, and Service.
We trust our doctor partners with the decision-making skills to choose what’s best for their practices while customizing the support around them. Our veterinarians maintain medical autonomy, allowing each of our hospitals to preserve the culture and individuality that make them unique.
We’re seeking an experienced Regional Medical Director to provide medical leadership and clinical support to two of our Southern Illinois practices:
Lakeside Veterinary Hospital – Carbondale, IL
Central Hospital for Animals – Herrin, IL
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who wants to continue practicing medicine while taking on a larger role in mentoring doctors, strengthening clinical teams, and helping shape the future of both hospitals.
The Regional Medical Director will partner closely with hospital and regional leadership to support medical excellence, doctor development, and continued growth across both practices.
For the right veterinarian, this opportunity also includes a pathway to partnership/ownership at both hospitals, offering the ability to make a long-term impact while sharing in the success of the practices.
What You’ll Do
- Provide medical leadership and support across both hospital teams
- Continue practicing clinical medicine while serving as a trusted resource for fellow veterinarians
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians, including early-career DVMs
- Support clinical growth in areas such as surgery, diagnostics, case management, and overall quality of medicine
- Partner with practice and regional leadership to identify opportunities for continued hospital growth
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performing culture
- Help drive consistency in quality of care while respecting the individuality and medical autonomy of each hospital
- Support doctor engagement, development, and retention across both practices
What We Offer
- Partnership/Ownership Opportunities at Both Practices
- Additional Medical Director compensation may apply
- Production-based earning potential
- Flexible scheduling
- Medical autonomy
- Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, liability coverage, 401(k), life and supplemental insurance
- Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
- Employee Assistance Program
- Personal pet care discounts
- DVM Mentor Network
- Paid CE allowance and professional dues
- Current Illinois veterinary license or ability to obtain
- 5+ years of clinical experience as a veterinarian preferred
- Strong clinical and surgical skills with confidence in general practice medicine
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
- Natural leader who enjoys teaching, coaching, and developing other veterinarians
- Highly organized with the ability to balance clinical and leadership responsibilities
- Collaborative approach to working with both medical and operational leadership
- Interest in long-term partnership and helping grow two established veterinary practices
This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian who is ready to take the next step in their career - combining clinical medicine, leadership, mentorship, and ownership while supporting two established practices in Southern Illinois.
