Job Description:
Berklee City Music is a nonprofit program that provides music education to 4th through 12th graders in underserved communities.
With more than 20 years of music education programming in the Greater Boston Area, Berklee City Music Boston is the founding site of the Berklee City Music Network. City Music is an out-of-school time, student-centered organization with a holistic approach for training musicians by building leaders and fostering community.
The program offers a comprehensive popular music education by harnessing the power of contemporary music. Program participants receive theory/musicianship classes, ensembles, one-onone instruction, and the PULSE online curriculum. Berklee City Music students gain access to performance opportunities, workshops with visiting artists, master classes, and other invaluable resources on the Berklee campus. With year-round instruction, expert faculty, individualized mentoring, and a comprehensive curriculum, City Music sets up students for success.
The City Music Boston Teaching Artists will instruct in one or more of the Boston Academies or the City Music ArtsLink Program.
High School Academy:
The program is open to ninth- through 12th-grade students in the Boston area and takes place at Berklee College of Music on weekdays after school. Students are selected for the program based on their application, audition, and interview. This is a scholarship-based program
Preparatory Academy:
This program takes place throughout the school year and is open to fourth- through eighth-graders in the Boston or Greater Boston area. Students are selected for the program based on their application, audition, and interview. This is a scholarship-based program, so there is no cost to participate.
