Full job description

Position Overview

The Process Technician – RPS Operations is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of additive manufacturing equipment during the assigned swing shift. This role owns the day-to-day execution of production builds by operating RPS printers and supporting equipment, monitoring machine health, performing production changeovers, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring builds are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.

Working as part of a two-person production team, the Process Technician plays a critical role in maximizing printer uptime, supporting on-time delivery, maintaining equipment readiness, and ensuring accurate communication between shifts. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, thrives in an independent manufacturing environment, and demonstratesa strong sense of ownership and accountability.



Shift Schedule & training

Candidates must be available to work one of the following 12-hour night shifts at our Fremont, CA location:

  • Shift A: Every other Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday (5:00 PM–5:00 AM) 
    OR
  • Shift B: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday (5:00 PM–5:00 AM) 
  • Training: All new hires will complete 4–5 weeks of daytime training and shadowing before transitioning to their assigned shift

Essential Job Functions

  • Safely operate and monitor multiple RPS additive manufacturing systems throughout the shift.
  • Execute scheduled production builds in accordance with the master production schedule.
  • Perform build starts, build unpacks, and printer changeovers.
  • Flip completed builds and prepare printers for the next scheduled production run.
  • Load and replenish consumables while following established powder handling procedures and safety requirements.
  • Respond to machine alarms and perform approved recovery procedures, including safely resuming builds when appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and determine when escalation to Engineering or Maintenance is required.
  • Operate supporting equipment including Solukon depowdering systems, chiseling stations, and Clean/Dry tasks.
  • Perform basic post-processing activities as required to support production flow.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment in accordance with 5S standards.
  •  Accurately document production activities, machine status, maintenance performed, and equipment issues.
  • Prepare detailed shift pass-downs to ensure effective communication and continuity between production teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production personnel to resolve production issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support RPS Operations and Parts Production.

  • Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen/Green Card Holder
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
  •  Ability to follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to accurately document production activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

  • Physical Demands

  •  Ability to work a 12-hour shift (5:00 PM – 5:00 AM) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, reach, and climb while operating equipment.
  • Safely handle metal powders and production materials while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required.
  • Operate overhead cranes, pallet jacks, carts, and other material handling equipment.
  •  Work in an environment with machine noise, airborne particulates, and industrial equipment.

    Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base hourly rate for this full-time position is between $32.00 and $38.00. This hourly rate range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
