Diagnostic Auto Tech | $30-$55/HR | No Weekend Work

Location: Upper Arlington, OH
Pay: $30-$55/hour flat rate, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-5:30 PM
Pay Schedule: Twice monthly, on the 5th and 20th

We are hiring an experienced Diagnostic Automotive Technician for a professional independent repair shop in Upper Arlington.

This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys advanced electrical work, drivability diagnostics, difficult repairs, and helping other technicians work through complex problems. You will remain a hands-on producer while serving as an experienced technical resource for the shop.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Diagnose advanced electrical and drivability concerns
  • Troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems
  • Complete complex automotive repairs
  • Remove and replace engines and transmissions
  • Perform timing chain and head gasket repairs
  • Assist newer technicians with technical questions and repair strategy
  • Complete digital vehicle inspections on every repair order
  • Build repair tickets with accurate labor times and part numbers
  • Use Autel and Snap-on diagnostic equipment
  • Work on Domestic, Asian, and European vehicles

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of professional automotive repair experience
  • Strong diagnostic skills
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting ability
  • Strong drivability diagnostic experience
  • Experience handling difficult repairs
  • Engine and transmission removal and replacement experience
  • Timing chain and head gasket experience
  • Ability to guide and support less experienced technicians
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certifications
  • Tekmetric experience
  • Digital vehicle inspection experience
  • State inspection or emissions certifications
  • DOT or other automotive certifications
  • Previous Lead or Diagnostic Technician experience

DVI experience is strongly preferred, but training is available. Technicians must complete a digital inspection on every repair order.

This is a modern independent repair operation with a professional support structure. Each shop has a General Manager, Service Advisor, and Quality Technician who helps complete final inspections.

The Upper Arlington location offers a manageable, steady workload with approximately 60 vehicles per week, five lifts, an alignment rack, modern shop systems, and year-round climate control.

You will have the tools and support needed to focus on accurate diagnostics, quality repairs, and helping build a stronger technical team.
