Special Education Paraprofessional

26–27 School Year and Beyond


Location: Opportunities Across Multiple Districts

Schedule: Varies per assignment, typically Monday–Friday, school hours

Pay: $19–$23 per hour (based on assignment and experience)

As a Paraprofessional, you’ll work directly with students in school settings, providing individualized academic, behavioral, therapeutic, and social-emotional support throughout the school day. You’ll work alongside teachers, BCBAs, and other school professionals to help students participate in learning, build independence, navigate challenges, and make meaningful progress toward their individual goals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide direct 1:1 or small-group support to students with disabilities and other individualized learning needs.
  • Support students with academic, behavioral, therapeutic, social-emotional, communication, and daily living skills based on their individual needs.
  • Implement strategies and accommodations outlined in students’ IEPs, behavior plans, and other individualized supports.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and help students develop skills for self-regulation, communication, independence, and successful participation in the classroom.
  • Monitor and document student behavior, progress, and responses to interventions.
  • Support students during classroom activities, transitions, social interactions, and other school routines.
  • Collaborate with teachers, BCBAs, specialists, and other school team members to provide consistent and effective support.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where students can succeed.
  • Communicate relevant observations and student progress with the appropriate members of the school team.

What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working with children, students with disabilities, or neurodivergent individuals preferred
  • Experience in a school, camp, childcare, behavioral, or caregiving setting is a plus
  • Strong communication, patience, reliability, and a commitment to supporting students
  • Ability to pass required state and federal background checks and fingerprinting
