Job Description

RSC - EVENT SERVICES ASSISTANT

THE ROLE

As an Event Services Assistant, you’ll work behind the scenes—and sometimes front and center—to help create successful events throughout the Rayburn Student Center. You’ll gain hands-on experience in event production, customer service, AV technology, teamwork, and problem-solving while supporting events for students, faculty, staff, and campus guests.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Build the Space — Set up, flip, reset, and tear down event spaces using tables, chairs, staging, signage, and equipment.
  • Support the Tech — Assist with microphones, projectors, displays, computers, and basic AV equipment.
  • Know the Plan — Review event schedules, room diagrams, assignments, and instructions using EMS and 7PointOps.
  • Document the Shift — Complete shift reports, address changes, client requests, AV or equipment issues, and incidents.
  • Serve the Guest — Provide welcoming, professional assistance to clients, students, employees, and campus visitors.
  • Stay Connected — Communicate with Events Team, AV Tech, Building Ops, and Shift Supervisor throughout your shift.
  • Solve & Adapt — Respond to changing event needs and quickly communicate concerns requiring additional assistance.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Current East Texas A&M University student in good academic standing
  • Dependable, punctual, positive, and ready to learn
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills
  • Comfortable following schedules, diagrams, and instructions
  • Able to perform event setup/teardown responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Available for a flexible schedule, may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and campus events

PAY & GROWTH
