Complex & Strategic Scope – Lead the financial operations of a multi-entity nonprofit organization with a diverse funding portfolio, significant real estate assets, and large-scale capital projects.

Influence at the Highest Level – Partner directly with the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and senior leadership on strategic planning, capital investments, and organizational growth initiatives.

Real Estate & Development Exposure – Oversee substantial real estate assets and participate in affordable housing, construction financing, LIHTC, and other transformative community development projects.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership

Develop and execute financial strategies that support the organization's mission, strategic objectives, and long-term sustainability.
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and executive leadership team.
Lead financial modeling, forecasting, scenario planning, and performance analysis to support organizational growth and decision-making.
Develop KPIs, dashboards, and financial metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Direct annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.

Accounting & Financial Management
Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Oversee all accounting functions, including:
General Ledger
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Payroll
Fixed Assets
Grant Accounting
Financial Reporting
Month-End and Year-End Close
Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and fraud prevention measures.
Lead annual audits, Single Audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.

Treasury, Investments & Risk Management
Oversee treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, investments, and debt obligations.
Manage banking relationships, financing strategies, operating reserves, and investment portfolios.
Assess financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies related to funding, debt, compliance, cybersecurity, and insurance.

Ensure long-term financial stability through effective cash management and capital planning.
Grants, Compliance & Funding Management
Oversee financial reporting and compliance for government contracts, grants, donor funding, and philanthropic contributions.
Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), donor restrictions, grant agreements, and IRS regulations, including Form 990 reporting.

Partner with development and program leadership to create grant budgets, projections, and funder reports.
Real Estate & Capital Projects
Provide financial oversight for approximately $95M in real estate assets, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and asset management.

Support affordable housing, shelter development, and construction projects through capital planning and funding strategies.
Manage financing structures including LIHTC, bond financing, grants, and public/private funding sources.
Lead long-term capital planning and financial sustainability initiatives for facilities and real estate assets.

Leadership & Organizational Development
Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, development, IT, facilities, and program leadership.
Serve as the primary financial liaison to auditors, lenders, investment advisors, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies.
Deliver clear, actionable financial reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
