Work Environment

The PTA role is situated within a bustling hospital department, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and resources. This onsite work setting fosters direct patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will engage with a variety of healthcare professionals, including physicians, occupational therapists, and nursing staff, all dedicated to delivering exceptional care. The typical workweek is Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, promoting a strong work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist supervising Physical Therapists in implementing accurate and effective treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs.
• Motivate patients during therapeutic exercises, conveying instructions with clarity to foster understanding and compliance.
• Document patient progress and responses in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, ensuring all records are completed accurately and timely.
• Prepare therapy areas and sterilize equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients during treatment.
• Monitor patient safety throughout therapy sessions, adjusting procedures as necessary to maximize effectiveness and minimize risk.
• Create and maintain a positive and encouraging environment, recognizing and celebrating patient achievements and milestones.
• Communicate openly with supervising PTs and the rest of the clinical team to discuss patient needs and adjust treatment approaches as necessary.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role allows you to work with a diverse range of patients, including individuals recovering from surgeries, accidents, and chronic conditions. Your expertise will guide them on their path to recovery, emphasizing not only physical restoration but also emotional and psychological support as they strive towards their rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

• Current California Physical Therapist Assistant License is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is essential.
• CPR/BLS Certification is preferred, demonstrating your commitment to patient safety.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with team members.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing patient needs is crucial for success in this position.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, particularly in an outpatient or hospital setting, is highly desirable.
• Experience interacting with patients with diverse medical backgrounds will provide a strong foundation for patient engagement.
• Although previous outpatient experience is preferred, we encourage new graduates who are passionate about patient care to apply.
